What are the differences between framing with wood studs and framing with metal studs?

Answer:

Wood holds moisture, does not keep a true straight line, has crowns and bows, and weighs more. Wood still gives you a better feel when you are screwing into it, especially for a weight bearing application, like inwall backing. Metal can be made in different guages for different applications, is straight and true, more accurrate, but is not perfect for all weight bearing applications.
